#10 Melanie Pullen, High Fashion Crime Scenes
by Allison H.
It is absolutely fascinating to combine crime scenes and fashion. The series was based off of actual vintage crime-scene photographs from the files of the Los Angeles Police Department and the County Corner’s Office. Though in my point of view fashion in this series doesn’t seem to be the spotlight, “space” on the other hand plays an important role. All the models in the scenes are very small in scale, which strengthens a sense of emptiness, in terms of space and the peculiar atmosphere. The lighting and tone in each photograph are very cinematic, it feels like something is going to happen after the crime was committed. Maybe fashion is the killer behind the scenes.
