#13 Laura Stevens, Another November
by Allison H.
“Following the ending of a significant relationship in my life, an undoing began. Whilst adjusting to being a single woman, I started to create a photographic narrative based on the experience of losing love; directing other women to portray the gradual emotional and circumstantial stages, along the well-trodden track of the broken-hearted.” – Laura Stevens
It was a series of reenactments of the photographer’s psychological state. Through simple and subtle gestures, there is definitely a mood of despair in each photograph. Low saturated color tone also builds up a sense of loneliness. It is always inspiring to transform the negative part of your life into art making, regardless of how to realize it and in what form to disclose it. It makes you rediscover yourself, and maybe you will overcome and let go through the process of art making.
