#21 Frank Uhlig, Terra Incognita
by Allison H.
Frank Uhlig is a German photographer who is currently exploring and interweaving perceptions of motion, time and space. His work often expands from simple elements such as line, plane, color and texture, and his topics usually originate in daily situations and subject to the poetic quality of the continuous change.
The series Terra Incognita focuses on the exploration of abstract movement using darkroom techniques, playing with diverse possibilities in the form of pictogram. The content in each photograph contains certain diversity in terms of form and shape, some part of the image is clear and rich in details, whilst other part carries the aesthetic of motion blur. You don’t really know what they are, but you can always make some interpretation and correlation between the images and your imagination.
